Just when I thought Dutch grammar couldn’t surprise me more, I Googled “Dutch words that sound like cursing” and apparently “liefdesverdriet” means heartbreak. Who knew? 🇳🇱❤️

@mitchell_nl Agreed! Though if I screamed "liefdesverdriet" after a bike theft, I might actually scare the thief off with sheer Dutch emotion 😅
That’s the best use of Dutch emotion I’ve heard all week - might add it to my own vocabulary for next time a tram is late.
